Services

What we do, and who it’s for

Outpatient behavioral health for adults 18 and older. Two services, offered separately or together, delivered entirely online to patients anywhere in Illinois.

Service one

Individual therapy

A standing appointment with one clinician who knows your history. Sessions run 30 to 60 minutes depending on what the work needs that week, usually weekly at the start and less often as things stabilize. There is no fixed number of sessions — some people stay a few months around a specific problem, others stay for years.

Our clinicians draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic work, matched to what you are dealing with rather than to one house method.

Common reasons people come in

  • Anxiety, panic, and worry that has stopped responding to the usual coping
  • Depression, low motivation, and long stretches of feeling flat
  • Trauma and PTSD, including events from years ago
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions — divorce, career change, caregiving, retirement, a new diagnosis
  • Relationship patterns that keep repeating
  • Work stress and burnout
  • Anger, irritability, and reactions that feel out of proportion
Not sure therapy is the right fit? That is a reasonable thing to find out in the first appointment rather than decide in advance. If we are not the right practice for what you are facing, we will say so and help you find who is.

Service two

Psychiatric medication management

Evaluation and prescribing by a psychiatric provider, with follow-up appointments to see how a medication is actually working for you rather than how it is supposed to work on paper.

The first appointment is a full evaluation: your symptoms, medical history, anything you have tried before and how it went. If medication makes sense, we talk through the options, the tradeoffs, and what to watch for. If it does not, we say that too.

How it usually goes

  • Initial evaluation — a longer appointment to understand the whole picture
  • Early follow-ups — typically every few weeks while a medication is being started or adjusted
  • Maintenance — every few months once things are steady, to refill and reassess

Already on medication?

We can take over management from a primary care physician or another practice. Bring your current prescriptions and any records you have; we start from where you are rather than resetting you.

We do not prescribe controlled substances. That includes stimulants for ADHD, such as Adderall, Ritalin, and Vyvanse, and benzodiazepines, such as Xanax, Ativan, and Klonopin. This is a firm policy, not a case-by-case decision, so there is no need to ask whether an exception can be made.

If one of these is what you are looking for, we are not the practice for you and we would rather you knew now than after an intake appointment. If you already take one and are looking for help with something else, say so when you call and we will be straight with you about what we can and cannot manage.

How every appointment works

Online only

This practice is fully telehealth. We moved online during the pandemic and did not move back, so both therapy and medication management happen by video — there is no in-person option to request.

What you need: a private space where you will not be overheard, a device with a camera, and a connection steady enough to hold a video call. We send a link before each appointment; there is nothing to install.

You must be physically located in Illinois at the time of the appointment. That is a licensing requirement, not a preference, and it applies even if you live here and are only travelling.

If your situation genuinely needs to be seen in person, we will tell you and help you find a practice that can do it.

Scope

What we don’t offer

Being clear about this saves you a phone call. We are an outpatient practice for adults, and we do not provide:

  • In-person appointments of any kind
  • Controlled substances — no ADHD stimulants, no benzodiazepines
  • Care for children or adolescents under 18
  • Emergency or crisis services, or any 24-hour coverage
  • Inpatient, residential, or partial hospitalization treatment
  • Detox or medication-assisted treatment for substance use
  • Court-ordered evaluations, custody evaluations, or disability determinations

If you call us needing one of these, we will try to point you somewhere useful.

In crisis? This office is not a 24-hour service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For urgent mental health support any time, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
